COURSERA INFO. & FAQ

When you combine Coursera’s 100% online courses with 24/7 availability and flexible deadlines, you can get college-level education entirely on your schedule using Coursera.

Many of Coursera’s courses and specializations are offered through top universities, such as Yale, University of Michigan, Duke, Stanford, UPenn & more. Coursera allows you to learn directly from professors at universities like these.

The majority of Coursera’s classes are subscription-based online courses. Coursera bills students at a fixed monthly rate, with most costing between $39 and $79 per month. You only pay while you’re working through the course.

Many of Coursera’s courses can be viewed for free, but a paid subscription gets you the following:

  • Access to graded material
  • Earn Course Certificates
  • Complete final Capstone projects
  • Earn a Specialization Certificate

Coursera offers financial aid to qualifying students as well.

As we covered above, Coursera’s courses can be accessed for free. While you won’t have access to graded materials, final projects or certificates, you can still benefit by watching lectures and taking in information.

Courses offered by Coursera can be completed as single, stand-alone programs, or they can be taken as a specialization – a series of courses focused on a certain discipline.

For example, the Project Management For Career Development specialization (see below) is made up of five courses, including ‘Budgeting & Scheduling Projects‘. You can enroll in the entire specialization to obtain a specialization certificate and certificates for each course you complete, or you can take a specific course and obtain a single certificate for that course only. It’s up to you!

Courses can vary quite a bit in terms of the amount of time you’ll need to complete it. Some courses on our list take only 8-10 hours, while others take approximately 100 hours or more to complete.

Of course, this largely depends on your own schedule and how much time you can dedicate to learning. Luckily, Coursera allows you to learn 100% online on your terms!

Coursera gives you the ability to directly contact your professors through email, and you also gain access to the courses’ forum. You’ll be able to ask for help and chat with other students as well as your professor while working through assignments.

Lectures and narration of courses are mostly in English only. That said, the majority of courses feature subtitles in many languages such as Arabic, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese (European), Russian, Vietnamese, German, Thai and English, too.
